We have few different answers since the Hockey Hold'em grown and evolved over the past 10 years.

schedule format

Every year the following things will remain consistent:

• Friday Evening | Game 1: 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:00pm or 9:00pm
  Everyone will find out what time they play on Friday (opening night) at the Hockey Hold'em draft. The Hockey Hold'em draft is held the weekend prior to opening night.
  After the last game of the night; typically around 10:30pm the Saturday morning teams and game times will be released. You either gotta stay up with us or get up early to find out when you play next.
• Saturday Morning | Game 2:
  Lost Friday Evening (Everyone): 10:00am or 11:00am
  Won Friday Evening (Everyone): 12:00pm or 1:00pm
  After all of the Saturday morning games are completed; typically around 2:30pm the Saturday evening teams and game times will be released. You gotta be ready to go, could be short notice, especially for the goalies.
• Saturday Evening | Game 3:
  Lost Saturday Morning (Skater): 5:00pm or 6:00pm
  Won Saturday Morning (Goalie): 5:00pm or 6:00pm
• Saturday Evening | Game 3:
  Lost Saturday Morning (Goalie): 7:00pm or 8:00pm
  Won Saturday Morning (Skater): 7:00pm or 8:00pm
  After all of the Saturday evening games are completed; typically around 9:30pm we will announce who has enough chips to qualify for Championship Sunday. If you qualified for Championship Sunday, you must respond to an email to claim your spot. If we do not receive a response we will move on to the next eligible contender.
• Sunday Morning | Championship Sunday:
  Game Time: 10:00am
  Get to the rink early; approximately at 9:30am everyone playing will find out what team they are on and will have 30 minutes to get ready for the game.

jersey information

Everyone should bring two (2) jerseys with you to participate in Hockey Hold'em. Your jersey color will be listed on the monitors and links provided. If you don't have the acceptable jersey colors listed below, borrow one from a friend, or purchase one.

• Acceptable Jerseys:
  White Jersey or a Hockey Hold'em Official Jersey (Sold Separately)
  Dark Jerseys; Dk. Grey, Dk. Blue or a Hockey Hold'em Official Jersey (Sold Separately)
• Unacceptable Jerseys:
  ALL other colors jerseys, especially yellow, red, green, orange, light grey, light blue.

Hockey Hold'em jerseys are only purchased at select times and a minimum quantity order must be reached.

• Game 1 (Friday Evening) | This will be provided to you after the Hockey Hold'em Draft and it will be posted on the monitors and links provided.

• We will have a Women's Only locker room available throughout the weekend.

lady luck selection

Every team must have a Lady Luck player of the game. This player receives two (2) goals if they score while your team is losing. If you are tied or winning, their goal will only count as one (1).

• Lady Luck is a team selection; talk amongst yourselves in the locker room prior to the game.

• Go to the betting station and find YOUR betting slip and a Lady Luck sticker.
• Place a Lady Luck sticker on the FRONT portion of helmet.
• Fill our our betting information and CHECK the Lady Luck box.
• Place YOUR betting slip in the betting box and proceed to the ice surface for your game.
• Inform the game time officials that you're the Lady Luck player of the game.

placing bets

• Everyone starts the tournament with predetermined amount of chips; typically 1000 chips.
• You cannot bet more chips than you have in your position. Your chip totals will be posted and available online.
• Betting more chips than you have will result in an "ALL IN" bet.
• You can ONLY bet on your OWN team. If your not sure if your team has a chance to win, you may be little amount or nothing. A bet of "zero" chips is accepted.
• ALL bets must be received before the opening faceoff occurs. If you do not get your bet in prior to the opening faceoff, your bet is "zero".
• Betting Station: Go to the betting spot; this is the location to place your bets and located next to the entrance doors to the ice surface.
• Betting Slips: Find YOUR betting slip and fill it out completely. If you cannot find YOUR betting slip, use one of the blank slips provided.
• Betting Box: Place YOUR betting slip in the betting box and proceed to the ice surface for your game.

Yes. We will have a Women's ONLY locker room available. It is strongly suggested that you meet with your team prior to the game to help with your betting and Lady Luck Player of the Game selection.

No. Check is not permitted at this event and will result in a penalty, misconduct or removal from the tournament.

Yes. Slapshots are allowed.

I'm human and I do make mistakes. If there is anything wrong with your balance owed or your chip total during the tournament, please let me know.

• If I'm not available, don't worry . . . there's nothing urgent enough that it cannot wait until I become available. We will take care of it and either it make right, check code, rectify it or explain if everything is correct.
• However, we do want to make sure your chip total is correct prior to any bets being placed. Make sure you have contacted me after the new schedules/standings are posted.
• Schedule, jersey color and locker room will not be affected by a calculation error.

Note: A common miscalculation occurs, because I am placing an "ante" bet for all participants. If you win, you double your "ante" and that is applied to your chip total going into the next round. We also give bonus and those bonus could affect your chip total as well. Pending on the tournament format winners also get a percentage of the chips won from the other team's game bet as well.

We'll use an opening night bet as an example to keep the math simple.

• Ante: 100 chips (or a different predetermined amount, applied as a default)
• You go "All In" (1,000 chips), and win 7-4.
• You've won 2,200 chips (1,000 + 100) x 2 = 2,200 chips
• Luck 7's Bonus: +100 (Your team scored 7 or more goals)
• Total Chips Won (Friday Evening): 2,300 chips

No. Everything is auto-generated by the Hockey Hold'em software. Teams are built to be matched up according to player skills, genders and age. Asking to play with friends, family or adjust game times for another event on your schedule is not possible. You must be prepared to play at your scheduled game times. This will keep teams fair and/or prevent someone from having the same goaltender twice in round-robin play. There was a time when we were able to make this accommodation, but the tournament has grown in size and it makes it more difficult to manage now.

However, the only adjust we will make is for Championship Sunday and this is to enforce the "Split the Pot" rule. Stating that "Family/Relationships will play together until they win. Once they win together; one player will play for one team, the other will play for the other team. Unfortunately, this also means that siblings/family members, significant others, husbands and wives will represent different teams."

Yes. Everyone has to pay for Hockey Hold'em. Everyone has a chance to make it Championship Sunday and win prizes.

Yes. Please give us notice so we can try to find a compatible substitute to play in your spot. The sub will not be allowed to bet for you or for themselves. You understand the risk, if you don't play, you can't bet. You must play at least two (2) games to qualify for Championship Sunday.

• Hockey Hold'em Rule: [Dead Money]

Yes/No. If they are the same skill level as you then you should suggest them to us. We will make the final decision on who will be participating in your vacancy. We want to keep the teams at Hockey Hold'em as fair/competitive as possible. Substitute players are not allowed to play on Championship Sunday.

No. There is no "buy back in" option. Sorry. If you do lose ALL of your chips, we still expect you to participate in all of your scheduled games. Please continue to have fun, play hard and help your fellow teammates get to Championship Sunday.

No. Helmets, gloves, shin guards, elbow pads, hockey pants are all required. Face shields/cages and shoulder pads are optional, but strongly suggested.
